PRESS ASSISTANT

Summary of Duties – Responsible for packaging printed products produced on a printing press.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Good eye hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to use small hand tools and finishing equipment.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in the preparation and proofing of various documents and correspondence.
  • Moderate mechanical aptitude – Some troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly.
  • Moderate mathematical skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure including metrics, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use a variety of handheld measuring devices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – Must be a self-starter who is team oriented, dependable and cooperative.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills – Ability to read, interpret and apply instructions and procedures contained in documents such as procedure manuals, job jackets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and a variety of technical manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondences.
  • Ability to communicate well with supervisors and associates.
  • Good reasoning ability – ability to understand and implement instructions furnished and written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • Ability to recognize and work through problems created by variables to standardized procedures.
  • Ability to think independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Moderate organizational skills – ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines to ensure on-time delivery schedules are met.
  • Ability to work under pressure while handling multiple tasks with tight timelines.

  • Must be able to distinguish between colors.
  • Responsible for all packages of printed material produced on the assigned press.
  • Must be willing to work at a reasonable pace to keep up with the product being delivered.
  • Review complete job jacket regarding specific bindery requirements and act accordingly.
  • Review printed orders to make sure that they correspond to job jackets and are packed correctly.
  • Carefully review printed product for quality and defects and report such to Pressman.
  • Review labels and shipping instructions for accuracy and deliver finished product to assigned areas..

Working Conditions:

Fast-paced production environment with exposure to dust, noise, moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The employee must be able to stand up to 10 hours per shift and frequently lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

Compensation/Benefits:

  • Pay based on experience
  • Health Insurance – employer pays 100% of premium for employee for high deductible ($1,500 individual) plan. Dental Insurance – employer pays 45% of premium for employee
  • Holiday – seven (8) holidays observed – New Year, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Friday after, Christmas Day

BINDERY SUPPORT

Summary of Duties – Responsible for packaging printed products produced on a printing press.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Responsible for operation of Rewinder that winds paper from one roll to another to form compact rolls of specified footage or diameter prior to cutting.

  • Responsible for all packaging of printed material produced on the assigned press. Must be willing to work at a reasonable pace to keep up with the product being delivered.
  • Review complete job jacket regarding specific bindery requirements and act accordingly.
  • Review printed orders to make sure that they correspond to job jackets and are packed correctly.
  • Carefully review printed product for quality and defects and report such to pressman.
  • Review labels and shipping instructions for accuracy and deliver finished product to assigned areas.
  • Pull supplies as requested by pressman.
  • Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of equipment.

Position requires fine manual dexterity of the hands to perform all aspects of operating a press.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Responsible for serving existing customers by selling products and meeting customer needs.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must have great proofreading, keyboarding and data entry skills

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Assist assigned Sales Account Manager with internal customer support, and to ensure timely and accurate quote preparation. Ensure clients request and needs are identified and satisfied.
  • Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts.
  • Works closely with the Sales Manager, Sales Support Supervisor, Regional Sales Managers, and other Customer Service Representatives to ensure customer satisfaction and problem resolution.
  • Receive and answer calls from the clients or client service units in relation to the clients request or questions; Answer client’s questions & ensure their problems are resolved; conduct follow-up tasks. Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, making recommendations to management.
  • Submits orders by referring to price lists and product specifications.

  • Health Insurance – employer pays 100% ($6,472 annually) of premium for employee for high deductible ($1,500 individual) plan.
  • Dental Insurance – employer pays 45% ($206 annually) of premium for employee.
  • Sick Leave starts accruing on full time hire date.
  • Vacation accrues annually on January 1st.
  • Holiday – eight (8) holidays observed (New Year, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Friday after, Christmas).
